The Manuscript Codex * Parts and positions
RECTO

The side of a single sheet manuscript (kıt’a, hilye, berat, ferman or levha) on which the inscription begins or which is the focus of attention for the reader.
# In a manuscript codex, 'side a' is commonly used instead of recto (and 'b' instead of verso), contrary to western practice where recto and verso is used and 'a' and 'b' is uncommon; note that because of the opposite reading direction in western manuscripts the recto is the page on the right side of the spine-fold.
