HAIR SIDE OF PARCHMENT |
-
The outer layer of the parchment, which corresponds to the visible part of the skin of the living animal. It can often be determined by the presence of hair follicles on the surface. Additionally, there is often a difference between the color of the hair and flesh side of parchments made in the Islamic world, with the hair side being darker and yellower. Also paint and ink usually adhere better to the hair side of the parchment.
